Viewing birds in the dim light of dawn or dusk, whether they are preening or resting, single or paired, has always given me a great sense of pleasure and tranquility.
The birds in Nesting Pair are anonymous as I simply wanted to capture the elegance of their round bodies and upturned tails. I first sculpted them in a warm butternut wood and then, wanting to create greater strength and elegance, cast them in a graceful bronze. Nesting Pair was selected for the 2006 Birds in Art Exhibition; Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wausau, WI., the 2007 Society of Animal Artists Small Works Big Impressions Exhibit at The Wildlife Experience Museum, Parker, CO and the 2011 National Sculpture Society’s (NSS) “Love” Exhibition. Offered in a gorgeous silver patina.
