Each year my husband and I are treated to numerous colonies of burrowing owls on our visits to Santa Fe. There I’ve gained the inspiration to create my “Wise Eyes” sculpture from the natural beauty of this silver maple burl. I’m completely intrigued by my field study of these special owls and their use of abandoned burrows for shelter, their 360 team viewing for safety and ability to protect themselves on the open prairie.
